The second edition of XXI, January 2013, brings, as the cover story, the theme precision agriculture. It is the use wisely, technologies and management practices that contribute to the production of food quality and reduced loss of resources and negative environmental impacts. The edition also discusses a challenge that presents itself to science: how to set criteria, parameters and metrics to confirm that given agricultural activity is actually moving toward sustainability.
XXI - Science for life journal is a new tool created by Embrapa with the purpose of contributing for citizens to know more about farming research, so that they can build their opinions according to their convictions and with more knowledge.
This is crucial, particularly in Brazil, where research - intensively and productively built by domestic and foreign institutions - has been decisive for the Country to reach new levels of development.
